M. Torrey Gallery is a portable non-profit art gallery started in 2006, for the purpose of allowing artists to literally "find an audience." It is through this inversion of the fixed gallery's function that M. Torrey Gallery finds its life. Owner and operator Montana Torrey collaborates with the exhibting artist, enabling the artist to explore a diverse series of relationships with the public and also for the public to have unexpected encounters with viewing art in a very traditional form, "the white cube." M. Torrey Gallery strikes a balance between the isolationism of the gallery system and the psychological space of the white cube with the spontaneous nature of interventions.
